Trevor has Dengay! 9/24

Hey Fam

How is everything going?

Last week was a little rough the Doctor wouldn’t let me and my comp leave the house ha so we only went out at nights because I have the Dengay! Dengay isn’t something you get from people it’s from mosquitos. I didn’t eat for 4 days and before that I threw up everything I ate so I got pretty skinny in the last 2 weeks. I lost about 15 pounds in 2 weeks! The Doctor said the first time you get it it is exactly like having the flu! and I have had a pretty gnarly flu all week! My belt doesn’t fit me anymore and none of my pants ha so its kinda a bummer. My companion has a bad cold…but things are real swell here.

This week went by really slow because we couldn’t go out and work to much but I studied and read a ton and sent a package home and got some sweet things from the people. The package cost me about 156 mil. (I think that is about $28).

So we have had zone conferences it crazy because we drive 3 hours. It was cool to see my buddy Bayles is in my zone and Hermana Wood. It’s a good time but my best friend is my companion.

Elder Rigby is in Asuncion 7 hours away he writes me every week I love that kid ha he is going to be my best friend when I’m home. between him and Gordon

I really am having a good time here! But seriously I’ve had a freakin’ rough start between the bad knee and now the dengay ! ha ha probably the worst start that could ever happen to a missionary! but I love the people!

We had 7 investigators in church none of them are the ones that we have been teaching so they are all just new investigators. ours have a different excuse every week it get frustrating!

So, me and Elder Gordon decided that when we get home, we are going to open up a bowling alley and call it 2 hot dudes.... so it will be cool !ha ha

Elder Gordon has been here now for 4 months so I might be here until January – Unless I get sick again and they send me to the big city!

That’s so cool about Mattea getting a bow for her Birthday! I want to start hunting way bad! everyone here hunts and I want to be into it!

I’m sending some pictures…umm the one with the chicken is Gabilon. He has to come on most visits with us because we don’t speak Guarani.

This picture is of me with a facial hair I just wanted to see how amazing I look now I know hahah. Me and Elder Gordon on “P” day being silly.!

We got a Canadian flag just because it spices up the room ha

The pink building is out house…. yeah it’s pretty sweet!

These pictures are of the kids that live next door. They are about the ages of Preslie, Paisley and Tynslee. So I feel like I have brown nieces here in Paraguay. They knock on our door all the time and want us to come out and play with them. We spend a lot of time with them. They are so cute!

This is a Picture of a girl we are teaching. She is Mattea’s age. It makes me really miss Mattea a lot! She is drawing on my arm.

This is a sweet picture of our pringles stach…Yummm.

That’s pretty much a wrap up of my week.

I Love you Family, More than you will ever know!

Stay classy!

Map of Paraguay

9/17

Hey Family how is everything going?

I’m just a kickin’ it in ol’ Paraguay.
So this week was a little rough me and my companion we both got dengay. It’s the thing you get when get bitten by mesquitos and it is rough!. You spend lots of time throwing up and in the bathroom and I had a headache for about 5 days it also makes it so your very sore .like the flu! besides all of that it was a good ol’ time here! hahah.

This week has been very hot here! Amazingly Hot! My area is the hottest place in Paraguay so my area is the POOREST , HOTTEST and RAINS THE MOST! You just need to come to Paraguay and sit outside for 5 minutes! It’s so blasted hot here!

I’m trying to upload some pictures. Here is some pictures of a market place, and a few homes.
The kid that is trying to kiss me is Philepee..

Most of the people we talk to are members. We have a lot of members that won’t come anymore because the church can’t pay for them to live like they use too.

I had some wicked experiences this week! We were teaching a guy and we took a member with us.(this member is blind) and the member told the investigator that he could see the devil when the man talked. We asked if we could pray in the house and the investigator yelled at us and told us to get out! It was kind of scary!

We were in a lesson and a lady asked me my favorite food and I said gato burgers
(cat burgers) and now she won’t let us see her cat hahaha I said we eat them allot in the states. She has no idea that I was kidding because I always try hard to be serious and I was keeping a pretty straight face! I love to tell people things like that!

We got some new investigators Margarita and her 2 daughters and a niece so there are 4 of them. It was very hard for me to teach them. They have a daughter that is 12 years old and she says things and acts just like Mattea I had a very hard time seeing her. It was kinda emotional for me but its better now haha I love Mattea like crazy! The mom margarita thinks that she got baptized a mormon when she was 5 years old we don’t know how. It’s something we need to find out through the church records. We have been spending a lot of time teaching that family and it’s really not going anywhere. They have a hard time learning. We have taught them the restoration 3 times all three times we have taught them when we get to the end of the lesson the mom asked “why are there are so many church’s”? so we got kind of frustrated because we taught them that 3 times! It’s alright hopefully they will get it! They told us they want to get baptized in the river so we will see what happens!

We do have a baptism at the end of the month but he has to come to church one more time. Hopefully he comes this week!

You should see all the little kids! They are so sweet you have no idea! I just love them!

I love you family with my whole heart!
Love you more no battle!
Stay good, stay classy and stay on your knees!

September 10,2012

Hey Family how are you and how is everything at home.

I’m here in ‘ol Paraguay its suppose to be raining all day today, it’s about 90*.
The people are great I love the members!   The people are wwayyyy poor here. Paraguay is the poorest in South America and Conception is the poorest in Paraguay so I’m in the poorest place in the world right now  (Or so it seems to me)
The houses are either tarps or scrap wood.  They have holes for bathrooms .

The food is good in the dark .ha ha ha. I have a hard time when I can see what I’m eating!  Yesterday I had piranha and alligator. It really wasn’t bad!
We eat rice tons of rice and tons of soups the soups are grossssssss!
I seriously have a hard time eating stuff sometimes so I have to buy things to keep at the house because the food is way iffy! It isn’t fruit season here and I can’t afford the fruits here they are 26 mil a pound!
so I just get Trix cereal ha ha ha!

I haven’t seen a single snake, but I’ve seen a couple monkeys and gnarly spiders they also have bad  masquitos here too!

Friday me and my companion went to a expo with some members because it’s a one -time thing and everyone takes work off to go so we trying teaching there.  It was a Gypsy parade it was pretty cool. We bought some hand bags and bracelets. everyone here makes cool Indian things.

last week we has a service project we cleaned an old ladies back yard she is very old and blind and doesn’t speak Spanish just Guarani .
It’s hard because all the old people and poor people just speak Guarani and that’s mainly who lives in conception .

Things are crazy here! We had a priesthood meeting and we were all going to go out and try to get over 80 people to church and over 12 people said they would come and only me and my comp showed up! Pretty lame!

Sad story: There is one guy here that always goes with us to find member’s because he speaks Guarani. He went to work in Argentina and he came back and his wife sold his house and moved away with another guy.  He is the nicest guy in the world and he helps us more than anyone. It’s sad .

Yesterday was a little rough I couldn’t walk at all. My knee  was swollen up and I was having  killer pains.  We walk a ton here.  Our church is 2  miles away and all the people we visit are no closer.  We walk around 20 to 22 miles a day so I’m always sore but it’s okay I guess. I hope things work themselves out soon! It’s hot season so I think if you sent the brace it would be to hot to wear it.

We got our first baptism date it’s the end of the month!!!  Paraguay doesn’t baptize much it’s one of the lowest in the world I guess. We (Paraguay)doesn’t  even get 100 a month. It’s mainly just reactivating people.

I miss more than anything listening to people singing in church. Very few go to church.
Last week  we would have had 110 people if everyone that said they were coming to church  would have come. We  only had 53 so it’s kinda  sad.

I’m picking up more and more Spanish but it’s hard to learn Spanish when the people here don’t even speak it hahaha. This week we had a lot more lessons the hardest thing about last week was there was a expo and so all of our luchistas cancelled and no one came to church so we didn’t have much to do. This week will be good because the expo is gone
My comp said I got screwed because this area all your clothes turn orange and its happening to me at the beginning of my mission. He is a huge BYU fan so were always talkin’ mad heat haha  My companion is my best friend! I freakin love the kid!  haha

I got 2 packages the president is bringing them to me this Friday when he comes down to visit our ward.
They just get delivered to the mission home and they bring it to us. The president is coming to my house because our bishop is stealing tithing so he said he wants to bring them or I would have had them last week . My companion has got all of his packages since he has been here so don’t be worried about  them getting stolen just put Jesus pictures on the box.

Is Jovan way excited to go or is he super nervous?  I’m so excited for him!
How is everything going with the little girlies? I miss them so much… you don’t even know!
How was dance for Pres does she tear it up? I’m so stoked about Paislie walking.???.man, I wish I could have seen that!
I would love you to send the bracelets. I love the idea! I play with all the little kids they would love bracelets!
I always see little girls and they come and hug me and I cried a couple days ago because heard a little voice like Preslie’s  I had to push her back to see her face this is hard but I can do it ..I know it

Stay classy
I love you so much!  I’m sorry if I didn’t always show it

Map of Trevor's Area

First week in Paraguay!

Hey family ~

Im here in paraguay its 110 degrees today its freakin hot! Paraguay isnt anything like I expected-first off I thought I knew spanish and now that I'm here I realized I dont know anything! They sent me to a place called Conseption it is a 8 hour bus ride from Asuncion and the poorest part of paraguay.  Its so sad how poor they are here. These people have nothing but they are willing to give us anything they do have. It is very sad. The city is very flat and covered with garbage but it is way cool. We have lunch and dinner appointments almost every day. The food is strange. The people dont speak spanish here they speak Guarani so I walk around not understanding anyone all day!

They gave us new companions mine is from Utah his name is Elder Gordon he is from Salem he is way fun we have a good time. He has been out a year and 2 months. We hang out with the members allot and play games. There is only 30 active members so we are going to work on the membership here. Tomorrow we have 2 appointments. I'm going to challange them to get baptized.

A family asked me to pray for their dad because he is a fisherman and was not having much luck. The next day the kid came and hugged me and said he needs to start praying in crappy spanish because God answered my prayer! So that was pretty cool! (I guess!) ha ha

I was invited to share my testimony at Church on Sunday. The bishop bore his testimony and said that the last testimony is always the best so my companion said I should go bare mine and he winked at me...So I did it and everyone laughed and thought it was funny!  It's crazy here people will breast feed as they are baring their testimonies... This country is crazy!

We live in the most ghetto part of paraguay and I guess the bishop use to be very poor before he became bishop and now he has good money so the clerk started asking where all the money was going for the church so the clerck got released this week haha the churches here its very sad.
I guess we have the nicest apartment here in Conseption. We have 1 window. Crazy thing though, if you touch anything when someone is showering it shocks you. It's pretty funny ha ha ha. Kinda ghetto!
I saw Chase Armstrong and also Elder Svedine! Pretty cool hua!

Today we are going to go buy air soft guns to play war with the kids for our "P Day".

Stay Classey!

Love you all like crazy!
